Muffin
Hey guys I thought I would introduce you to my lovely Pomeranian Muffin. Not at all sure why I called her muffin I'm not a huge fan of the name anymore as everyone makes fun of it. She is actually a jackaranian. (1/4 jack russel 3/4 pomeranian.)
I didn't have muffin until she was around 6 months old so I haven't been able to train her as much as I wanted too because she had already slipped into bad habits. When I first got her she was extremely shy and scared. She didn't like being around other dogs or people. She is still the same now and she is just over 2 years old. I really wish I could get her into some sort of routine so that when anybody walks through the door she doesn't feel threatened and scared. But it's just not that easy...
She really is so lovely but a lot of my friends have never really seen her much because she growls and barks and even sometimes bites people when she first meets them. I have been able to introduce her to my close friends and she is much better around them but even when they first walk in her initial reaction is to bark and growl. Before people start blaming me Muffin was always this way because of the place she was before. She was constantly picked on by the other 3 dogs who were all the same breed. She was the odd one out and she knew it. I really hope I have been doing the right thing I tell everybody to ignore her completely she will come to them when she is ready. 9 times out of 10 she barks at you and is very weary of you for probably 5-10 minutes then she jumps straight on your lap. But this isn't always the case and she has before bitten a few people who ignore what I say and attempt to stroke her. Obviously this makes me nervous when she meets people and I really hate walking her. As some people don't even ask to stroke her they just do it and it frightens her.
She is just such a sweet dog and I can't help but love her. Muffin is not at all nasty and she would never set out to hurt somebody but she is such a little dog she can get that worked up over people fussing her she just wants to get them away from her. I know I am probably partly to blame as if you treat small dogs like babies they can sometimes be nasty. But Muffin isn't a nasty dog she's just slightly misunderstood.
